Insider Gives Update on Possible Fallout 3 Remaster Release

Summary
- Fans shouldn’t expect to see the Fallout 3 remaster for a while.
- The title was first leaked alongside the Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remaster in 2023.
- It’s unclear when the Fallout 3 remaster will be released, but Bethesda initially expected it to drop in the same year as The Elder Scrolls 6.
According to a prominent insider, the rumored Fallout 3 remaster will not be released very soon. With the rumors of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remaster growing to a fever pitch recently, fans are curious about the possible Fallout 3 remaster, but unfortunately, it does not seem that gamers will get to play this title for a while.
Fallout 3 was originally released in 2008, and it marked the first title in the franchise developed by Bethesda. Following in the footsteps of Oblivion’s popularity, Fallout 3 was a big commercial hit, selling over 12 million units over the years. Back in 2023, during the FTC trials in which regulators decided if Microsoft could purchase Activision Blizzard, leaked documents indicated that remasters for both Oblivion and Fallout 3 were being planned by Bethesda.

The Fallout series has several standout quests in terms of narrative, but there’s one in Fallout 3 with a unique element for gamers to discover.
Now, insider Nate the Hate talked about the rumored Fallout 3 remaster, claiming that “it’ll be a while” before gamers see it. The comment came up as Nate answered a fan who asked if the game was still happening, as the leak that announced its existence was almost two years ago. Unlike the Oblivion remake, no information has been given about it since the primary leak took place, and the project could have easily been canceled.
‘It’ll Be a While’ Before the Fallout 3 Remaster Is Released
Unfortunately, Nate the Hate’s vague answer makes it impossible to tell when the remaster will finally be out, but it’s possible to speculate on the release date based on the details unveiled in the original leaked documents. For instance, Bethesda originally expected the Fallout 3 remaster to be released in the same year as The Elder Scrolls 6. Considering that The Elder Scrolls 6 is nowhere near its release in 2025, and will likely only be out by late 2026 or 2027, the game could possibly follow a similar timeframe.
The launch of the Oblivion remaster, on the other hand, seems imminent by now. Rumors about the game had already begun appearing over the past few months, but a recent leak has shown actual screenshots of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, indicating that the rumored title is real and will be released for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. It’s expected that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered will be a day one Xbox Game Pass release, and it could still be released in April. Current rumors indicate that the game has received a graphical overhaul, as well as several quality-of-life improvements and some revamped gameplay features, changing elements such as the combat.
