Diablo 4 may be adopting a more flexible Battle Pass with player-driven reward paths, so getting inspiration from one game could be worthwhile.

Blizzard recently announced that Diablo 4 Season 8, titled Belial’s Return, would launch on April 29, with a special livestream planned for April 24. Ahead of this, more details about the update have been revealed on the game’s official website, with the developers teasing an entirely new questline centered around Belial and his hunger for power. Players will also be able to obtain new Boss Powers from 24 Bosses throughout Sanctuary, which can be used to further customize characters. The aforementioned Berserk crossover will take place from May 6 until June 3, and the Battle Pass system will be entirely refreshed, allowing players to choose the order in which they earn rewards. A way to teleport directly to other party members will be added in Season 8, along with new challenges and improved boss loot.

Diablo 4 Season 8: Belial’s Return Gameplay Trailer

In March, Blizzard confirmed that Season 8 of Diablo 4 would make some difficulty changes after many complained that the game was too easy. Fewer Legendary items will drop while leveling, and players enjoying the title’s endgame content will find it more difficult to reach the highest Torment tier.

While many players were disappointed with the game’s most recently revealed plans for 2025, Diablo boss Rod Fergusson promises that the series will continue, even teasing that he has created a decade-long roadmap for the Diablo franchise. Season 8 of Diablo 4 will continue through July, with Season 9 slated to take place between July and September. A new expansion will be released in 2026, along with a new ranking system.
