Xbox Makes Big Change to Game Streaming Feature

As of April 16, all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers may now utilize Microsoft’s “Stream Your Own Game” feature, as it has exited the Insider-exclusive testing phase. The Xbox Game Pass streaming perk allows Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to play specific Xbox titles they own on supported devices via Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Initially launched in November 2024 to Game Pass Ultimate subscribers enrolled in the Xbox Insiders testing program, Stream Your Own Game allows users to stream games they own that are not included in the Xbox Game Pass rotation. The program was later expanded in December 2024 to also include Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S consoles, though it was exclusive to Xbox Insiders in the Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead rings. Stream Your Own Game is also supported on devices like Windows PCs, VR headsets, Amazon Fire TVs, and compatible iOS and Android smartphones.

With titles like The First Berserker: Khazan joining the Stream Your Own Game program regularly, even more Xbox users who own supported games can now stream them on their preferred devices. As reported by VGC, all Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can now use the Stream Your Own Game feature. As of April 16, the feature exited its Insiders-only window. With Stream Your Own Game now available as a Game Pass Ultimate perk, users who do not own an Xbox Series X/S console can now buy and stream select titles that are not in the Xbox Game Pass rotation on devices like an Xbox One system and save storage space in the process. An Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership is priced at $19.99 per month.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate’s Buy And Stream Feature Is Now Widely Available

Membership includes access to the traditional Game Pass rotation of downloadable Xbox and PC games, alongside Day One access to various Xbox Game Studios titles. Stream Your Own Game currently hosts titles from third-party studios like Square Enix and various indie developers. With Stream Your Own Game now available to all Game Pass Ultimate members, graphically intense titles like Final Fantasy 14, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Cyberpunk 2077 can be streamed to an Xbox One system or web browsers like Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

However, Xbox Cloud Gaming and Stream Your Own Game require a consistent Internet connection to play, with a minimum download speed of at least 20 Mbps over Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi. At the time of writing, 125 Xbox games support the Stream Your Own Game feature, with more planned to launch in May and June.
