- The PC port of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered received positive reviews after a smoother launch than its predecessor.
The newest patch for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered on PlayStation has fixed a major issue related to the game’s unlockable items, which cropped up after the roll-out of its preceding update. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered received its previous update on the occasion of the game’s much-awaited arrival on PC on April 3, 2025.
Over a year after its PS5 launch, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered finally made its way onto PC and garnered rave reviews. Along with it, the PS5 version of the remaster, which came out in January 2024, also got a big upgrade in the form of Patch 2.0.0. This particular update brought a bunch of fresh content, such as new No Return characters, maps, trophies, and an Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet-inspired cosmetic item, which is also available in the PC port. Unfortunately, besides these additions, the patch also led to The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered players encountering an issue that reset their progress with unlockables, something that has now been addressed in the latest version of the game.

The Unwritten Rules of The Last of Us Part 2 Explained
Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part 2 explains most of its gameplay, but there are a couple of unwritten rules worth learning about.
The devs at Naughty Dog recently released Patch 2.0.1 for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered on PS5, restoring the unlocked items in campaign mode, including skill points and an additional weapon holster, which certain players had lost after downloading Patch 2.0.0. However, this fix is only applicable if the player loads a save created before April 3, which is the release date of the erroneous patch. In other words, those who replaced their original save with the one created after that date and before upgrading to Patch 2.0.1 may still find themselves unable to access their unlocked items. This follows from Naughty Dog’s previous announcement, around the time when this bug was first acknowledged, that warned players not to overwrite their saves. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered team also shared that it was now working on resolving the loss of unlocked skins in the game’s No Return mode.
Meanwhile, with the PC port of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, Naughty Dog avoided the rocky start endured by The Last of Us Part 1‘s PC version in 2023. The remaster of the sequel experienced a better launch reception compared to the original game’s remake, which was suffered from performance issues when it first came out. At the time of writing, the newly released title holds glowing “Very Positive” user reviews on Steam after feedback from over 4.9K players.
It’s worth noting that The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered PC launch comes at an opportune time for the franchise, with The Last of Us Season 2 scheduled to air on April 13. Consequently, it would be interesting to see if the live-action series leads to boosted interest in the post-apocalyptic game, as has been noticed with the release of other video game adaptations in the past.
