Schedule 1 Developer Addresses Rumors of a Console Release

Summary

  • Schedule 1 developer TVGS says it would “love” to release the game on consoles.
  • Similar games with “Schedule 1” in the name have begun appearing on the PlayStation Store, but they are not affiliated with TVGS.
  • Schedule 1’s solo developer is currently working on optimization improvements and official Steam Deck support.

Solo developer TVGS, otherwise known as Tyler, has commented on rumors of the smash hit indie game Schedule 1 coming to consoles in the future. Schedule 1 has only been in Steam early access for a few weeks, but it has already pulled in hundreds of thousands of players, many of whom are eager to see the title make its way to PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.

After releasing in early access on March 24, Schedule 1 quickly found massive success on Steam. The crime simulation game was created by a sole developer, who likely didn’t expect this small title to become one of Steam’s most-played games. After just a few days, Schedule 1 pulled in over 130,000 concurrent players on the platform. Then, on April 6, it smashed through that record and peaked at well over 450,000 concurrent players. Schedule 1 now averages around 120,000 concurrent players every day, making it the fourth most-played game on Steam, with only heavy hitters such as Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, and PUBG: Battlegrounds above it.

‘There is No Ill Will’ DDS Publisher Comments on Schedule 1 Copyright Investigation

In a statement issued to Game Rant, Drug Dealer Simulator publisher attempts to clear some misconceptions about its Schedule 1 investigation reports.

After becoming such a huge success on Steam, it’s no surprise that players are eager to see Schedule 1 ported to consoles such as the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Thankfully, alongside new Schedule 1 content updates, a console version of the game seems to be on the developer’s radar. In a new statement on Twitter, Tyler discussed similar games currently available on the PlayStation Store, stating that there is no affiliation with TVGS or Schedule 1. The developer then said that they would “love to port Schedule 1 to console,” but only when the game is “at the right stage.” Tyler noted that an official announcement will happen well before its release.

It could still be quite some time before fans see Schedule 1 make its way to consoles, as the solo developer still has plenty of other improvements to work on first. Tyler recently revealed that he plans to work on new optimization improvements to get Schedule 1 verified for Steam Deck. As of right now, Schedule 1 is playable on the Steam Deck, but a lack of official controller support and a few other issues are preventing the indie title from being officially verified on the platform. Thankfully, as Schedule 1 isn’t exactly a graphically intense game, fans can currently run the game anywhere between 40 and 60 frames per second, depending on the graphics settings applied.

With Steam Deck support and a console release seemingly in Schedule 1‘s future, there’s plenty for fans to look forward to. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been all good news for TVGS as it was recently confirmed that Schedule 1 is being investigated for potential copyright infringement. The allegations come from Drug Deal Simulator publisher Movie Games S.A., which claimed that Schedule 1 has used elements from Drug Deal Simulator‘s plot, gameplay mechanics, and user interface.
