PS Plus Just Added One of the Best New Games of 2025

The latest PlayStation Plus update has given Extra and Premium tier subscribers access to one of 2025’s highest-rated new game releases, Blue Prince. PlayStation Plus updates typically fall on Tuesdays, but an exception has been made with Blue Prince, as it’s a day one PS Plus Extra game with a release date that fell on a Thursday instead.

PlayStation Plus Extra gives subscribers access to a rotating selection of PS4 and PS5 games, while PS Plus Premium includes everything in the Extra tier plus a variety of classic games from legacy consoles. Those signed up for the Extra and Premium tiers of PlayStation Plus now have two new games to play ahead of the usual Tuesday update that will come on April 15.

Since relaunching the subscription service in June 2022, Sony has added a host of games per month to PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium.

PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers can now play the critically-acclaimed Blue Prince through their subscription. Blue Prince is a new puzzle game that has earned very high scores from critics, with some praising it as one of the best puzzle games ever made. Blue Prince currently has a 90 overall rating on review aggregate site OpenCritic, making it one of the highest-rated new game releases of the year so far. Currently, Blue Prince is tied with Split Fiction, the co-op game from Hazelight Studios that earned similarly high reviews.

Blue Prince isn’t the only new game that PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers can try right now. EA Sports PGA Tour was also added to the Extra tier. While Blue Prince was always pegged for an April 10 launch, EA Sports PGA Tour wasn’t expected until April 15. Regardless, PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers now have two new games to play while they wait for the rest of the additions on April 15.

On Tuesday, April 15, PS Plus Extra subscribers will be treated to Battlefield 1, Hogwarts Legacy, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage – Tape 2, and PlateUp. Premium subscribers, meanwhile, will get to check out the PS1 horror game Alone in the Dark 2 as well as the cult classic PS2 action game War of the Monsters. Hogwarts Legacy was the best-selling game of 2023, Battlefield 1 is one of the better-received Battlefield games in recent years, Lost Records is a day one release, and PlateUp is good for chaotic co-op fun, making for an overall pretty solid month for PlayStation Plus.

Of course, Extra and Premium subscribers can also claim the monthly free PS Plus games that are added to the Essential tier. The free PS Plus games for April 2025 are RoboCop: Rogue City, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory.
