Palworld Releases New Update for April 2025

Summary

  • Palworld Update 0.5.3 fixes three major bugs, including memory leaks and autosave issues for PS5.
  • Pocketpair’s efforts to reach Palworld’s 1.0 release include periodic patches and improvements.

Pocketpair has recently released Update 0.5.3 for Palworld. This new Palworld update fixes a few problems with the game, and is much smaller than some previous patches that the popular survival game received earlier in recent months.

Palworld was one of the most surprising hits of 2024, selling over seven million copies in only five days. To capitalize on this success, Pocketpair has maintained the title with periodic patches, such as the recent Feybreak update, which added a big new island to the map. A few months ago, Pocketpair revealed that over 32 million gamers played Palworld when combining the sales on platforms such as Steam and services like Xbox Game Pass.

Some new evidence suggests that Nintendo could be planning to launch yet another patent infringement lawsuit against Palworld soon.

Palworld’s Update 0.5.3 is among the smallest patches received by the game in 2025, and it focuses on correcting three major bugs. The patch fixes a memory leak that occurred on dedicated servers and an autosave bug for the PlayStation 5 version of the game. Pocketpair has warned PS5 players, however, that there’s still a chance that the bug may occur in some specific instances, so gamers should warn the developer if it keeps happening. The third major bug to be fixed regards a glitch that rolled back server save data under certain settings. Apart from these serious problems, the patch has also corrected other undisclosed “minor bugs,” likely improving the game’s overall polish.

Overall, the current patch is considerably smaller than the recent 0.5.0 update. This previous patch was out in late March, and it added crossplay to Palworld, as well as other features, like a new storage system with a much larger capacity for storing Pals.

These latest updates are part of Pocketpair’s efforts to take Palworld to its 1.0 release. Back in January, the developer revealed an early access roadmap for Palworld, which included the content expected to be out for the game during the following months. Some of these announcements, such as crossplay, have already been implemented, while others, like a final boss for the game, are yet to be added.

Some of the elements of Palworld’s future are still uncertain. According to recent comments from the game’s communications director, John Buckley, Pocketpair is also open to releasing Palworld on the Nintendo Switch 2, as long as the new system can run the game. Obviously, considering the legal drama with Nintendo suing Pocketpair for alleged patent infringement, it’s hard to say if the popular survival game will one day be playable on the Switch 2 or not.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who cooperated with us.

However, we are still confirming whether this fix has resolved the problem in all situations, and the bug may still occur in some instances.

Therefore, we are currently continuing our investigation and preparing additional measures.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely.

If you are still experiencing the bug, we would appreciate it if you could share details of your environment and the situation in which it occurred.
