Overwatch 2 just shared “DokiWatch: The Heart of Hope,” which details the backstories of the magical girl versions of heroes depicted in many skins from Season 16. This charming Overwatch 2 comic features an origin story for the Mythic Heart of Hope Juno, narrated by the hero’s voice actor, as well as potential teasers for two unannounced DokiWatch skins.
Recently, Overwatch 2 began Season 16: Stadium. The massive update contained tons of exciting content, including the Stadium game mode that grants the season its title, a new damage hero named Freja, and tons of skins to collect. Several of these cosmetics, including the Mythic Heart of Hope Juno, are inspired by a magical girl theme called DokiWatch.

Overwatch 2 Stadium Update Sees Its Player Count Spike
Thanks to the release of Overwatch 2’s Stadium mode, included in the season 16 update, the hero shooter sees its Steam player count spike.
However, it seems like Overwatch 2 is leaning a little harder into DokiWatch than it normally does with most skin themes. “DokiWatch: The Heart of Hope” is a new Overwatch 2 comic voiced by Xanthe Huynh, voice actor for Juno, that details the backstory of the Heroes of Heart. During the story, Juno is discovered by Kiriko, Brigitte, Widowmaker, and Freja after she is confronted by Nocturna, the villainous Hollow Heart version of D.Va. The heroes confront their former ally, unlock Juno’s powers as the Heart of Hope, and save the day – though Nocturna escapes with the help of a mysterious stranger near the end.
‘DokiWatch: The Heart of Hope’ Magical Girl Overwatch 2 Comic
Though he can only be seen from behind, the long white hair, ribbon, and petal platform used by this individual suggests it is none other than Lifeweaver. The support hero has two skins in Overwatch 2 Season 16 – Demon Rocker and Royal Butler – but none that match the DokiWatch theme. Likewise, Angela “Mercy” Ziegler was mentioned at the beginning of the comic, and though she is getting the Merciful Magitech Mythic Weapon skin, she doesn’t have a full DokiWatch skin herself. This could mean Overwatch 2 has plans to release additional DokiWatch skins some time in the future.
Either way, this well-received comic is a great step forward for narrative in Overwatch 2. Beyond the cinematics for the LE SSERAFIM collaborations, and the alternative voice lines and game mode for Mirrorwatch, few skin themes have received such robust storytelling opportunities as DokiWatch has. Hopefully, this means players can expect similar explorations of major Overwatch 2 alternate universes in the future.
Fans can pick up Mythic Heart of Hope Juno from the Mythic Shop, while the DokiWatch skins for Brigitte, Moira, and Tracer in the Battle Pass, and the cosmetics for Freja, Kiriko, Widowmaker, and D.Va are in the cash shop. The Merciful Magitech Mythic Weapon Skin for Mercy will be permanently added to the Mythic Shop during the Overwatch 2 mid-Season 16 update, likely in late May.
