  • Players are already creating hideous monsters using the game’s character creator, sparking a renaissance in the community.
  • The remaster includes all DLC from the original game but currently lacks mod support, though that will likely change in the future.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered finally dropped and players are already creating the ugliest monsters they can imagine using the game’s character creator. After weeks and months of hype, leaks, and speculation, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered has been released on the same day as its official reveal. The remaster of the classic Bethesda fantasy RPG is already super popular, drawing in over 120,000 concurrent players just on Steam in the game’s first few hours. As a first-party Xbox game, the remake also dropped directly into Xbox Game Pass.

Ever since the dawn of character creators in video games, many gamers have been on a quest to make the ugliest characters possible. Games that allow players to create the most hideous monsters have typically been western RPGs, though many of FromSoftware’s Souls games have served as hotbeds for regular Frankensteins as well. The character creators of many of Bethesda’s RPGs have been known to serve the monster-creating community quite well, as games like Fallout 4 and Oblivion have been notorious for allowing players to make some of the ugliest characters ever.

With the new Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remaster having been available for mere hours so far, players are already getting busy in the character creator making some truly horrific creatures. DeadAimDino666 posted on the Oblivion subreddit showcasing one of their new creations. The green-skinned character is cursed with an unfathomably wide face slightly larger than the width of a basketball, and their teeth appear to be a solid white slab. Another Oblivion subreddit poster, DeCarn, showed off their blue-skinned character with a similar rounded face, but this one is blessed with higher cheekbones and a “fuller” head of hair.

Oblivion Remastered Players Are Making Hideous Characters

Fans underneath both posts pointed out the renaissance the OblivionAbominations subreddit is about to experience thanks to this new Oblivion remaster. The subreddit was created almost a whole decade ago and is home to 13,000 Oblivion monster enjoyers, a number that will likely grow in the coming days, weeks, and months. It’s already loaded with a bunch of ungodly Oblivion Remastered eyesores and seems like the place to be for fans who enjoy ogling at other players’ disgusting creations.

Since all the original game’s DLC is already packed into the Oblivion remaster, there doesn’t seem to be any sort of post-launch plans for the game. Additionally, Bethesda confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered doesn’t have mod support, though that’s not to say it won’t come later on down the road. As more and more RPG fans flock to Oblivion Remastered on its opening day, there are sure to be tons more awful-looking Oblivion monsters hitting the internet.
