On April 13, Nintendo revealed the Switch Online App’s main menu on the upcoming Switch 2 console, featuring some familiar elements from the original Switch app. However, the Switch 2 version of the Switch Online App will have some changes consistent with the system’s user interface, alongside highlights of exclusive Switch 2 features.

The news came just under two months ahead of the Switch 2’s planned June 5 launch. The Switch 2 will build upon the success of the original Switch lineup, as the console will focus on technical upgrades from its predecessor. Along with some under-the-hood upgrades, the Switch 2 will also include exclusive perks for Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack subscribers. These perks include access to the Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, along with a GameCube app that will include games like F-Zero GX and The Wind Waker at launch.

Nintendo Fans Are Successfully Shutting Down Switch 2 Scalpers

Some Nintendo fans are taking the fight to scalpers trying to sell Switch 2 preorders on eBay, as listings are being swiftly shut down.

Given that the Switch 2’s UI is similarly designed to the original Switch in its simplicity, the Nintendo Switch Online App on the upcoming system will follow that trend. Nintendo’s Japanese website revealed the first official look at what the Switch Online app will look like on the Switch 2. According to translations from NintendoLife, the Switch Online App can be accessed by selecting the bottom left icon on the Switch 2’s main menu, located next to the GameChat icon. Once loaded in, a Welcome screen will greet new users to the updated app.

Selecting the Nintendo Classics menu option will bring up a menu that displays all available console apps that come with a Nintendo Switch Online membership, along with any games currently available. Switch Online users with the Expansion Pack upgrade will gain access to the GameCube app on Switch 2 consoles, along with all previous perks available on the original Switch. More games will be added to the GameCube Switch Online app over time.

At $50 per year, the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack has become more valuable over time. It remains to be seen what other perks Nintendo will grant Switch 2 users.
