New PlayStation Showcase Could Be Happening Soon

Rumor has it that a new PlayStation Showcase could be on the way. PlayStation Showcases are longer than the more frequent PlayStation State of Play livestreams and give viewers a sneak preview of future triple-A games, including some surprise announcements. The last PlayStation Showcase happened in May 2023 and featured footage of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage, among others.

There hasn’t been a true PlayStation Showcase for nearly two years, and there are rumors that Sony is preparing for one this summer. Reliable gaming insider Jeff Grubb made this claim back in February, and suggested that there would be a wealth of exciting announcements at this rumored PlayStation Showcase to boost gamer expectations for the rest of 2025 going into 2026. For the most part, Sony’s in-house developers have remained relatively quiet about their upcoming projects, so the timing could be just right for another big PlayStation Showcase livestream.

Detective Seeds, another gaming insider, recently expressed his own belief that a PlayStation Showcase is coming soon in a new Twitter post. He says that this show is “brewing” and that he will have more information in a week or so. This is all he shared on the matter, and fans should be advised to take these claims with a grain of salt until more concrete evidence surfaces.

Insider Says New PlayStation Showcase is ‘Brewing’

There are currently plenty of first-party Sony games that could be shown off during a new PlayStation Showcase. Insomniac has been working on Marvel’s Wolverine for some time, but there hasn’t been much new official information about the superhero action title that wasn’t part of a leak since it was first announced back in 2021. Meanwhile, Sucker Punch has a Ghost of Tsushima sequel in the works, and it will probably reveal some new information about the title soon, as Ghost of Yotei is set to launch on the PS5 later this year.

Other exciting PlayStation games include Naughty Dog’s upcoming sci-fi title Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Guerrilla Games’ Horizon co-op adventure, and even Saros, a new title from Returnal developer Housemarque. Sony could even confirm the rumors of a new God of War game, which may return Kratos to the franchise’s original Greek setting. All of these and more could be featured in a new PlayStation Showcase, provided one is indeed coming later this year. Detective Seeds says that he will have more information about this in roughly a week, so fans should stay tuned for more details about this rumored livestream event.
