Neverway, a new life sim from indie developer Coldblood Inc., has been announced for PC. The studio was co-founded by Pedro Medeiros, the pixel artist behind Celeste and a contributor to acclaimed indie titles like TowerFall. In Neverway, players step into the role of an ordinary girl who gains immortality through a dead god. Unlike Celeste’s mostly linear progression, Neverway seems to adopt an RPG approach, featuring farming, fishing, crafting, building, and dating mechanics.

Celeste is widely regarded as one of the best precision platformer games of the decade, praised in part for its charming pixel art style. Now, Coldblood Inc.’s debut title, Neverway, seems to deliver equally delightful visuals, thanks to the same creative artist. Based on the announcement trailer, the game seems to cleverly blend horrifying imagery with an adorable aesthetic.

New Game is Like Classic Pokemon Combined With Stardew Valley

A new game reveal showcases a title that blends the classic gameplay mechanics of Pokemon with the familiar elements of Stardew Valley.

Announced on April 10, Neverway is now available for enthusiastic fans to wishlist on Steam for Windows, macOS, SteamOS, and Linux. While a release date hasn’t been confirmed, the game has revealed its recommended PC specs, suggesting it may be nearing completion. Neverway’s gameplay appears to take cues from popular cozy games, featuring elements like a dating system similar to Stardew Valley’s, with over ten datable NPCs, as well as a series of dungeons the protagonist, Fiona, must clear to “pay her debt.”

Neverway Is a Horror Life Sim with Role-Playing Elements

One of the more intriguing aspects of Neverway is its focus on player-driven customization through crafting and building. The game appears to incorporate RPG mechanics, including spells, buffs, and items that influence how players engage with the world, as each potential relationship with an NPC grants unique abilities to aid the player’s journey. There also seems to be a morality system reminiscent of Lies of P, where players may choose between honesty and deception in character interactions, though the developer has not officially confirmed this feature.

For those curious, Neverway is being developed using the Murder Engine, an open-source pixel art ECS game engine created by Coldblood Inc. co-founder Isadora Sophia. Another noteworthy detail is that the game is funded by Outersloth Fund, a video game investment company backed by Innersloth, the developer and publisher of Among Us. Fans paying close attention to the announcement trailer might also spot a subtle nod to Among Us: the protagonist wears a T-shirt featuring a Crewmate. It’s worth noting that Neverway was the opening title of 2025’s Triple-I Initiative livestream, and more details about the game are expected to be revealed in the near future.
