Paul Rudd Stars in Nintendo Switch 2’s Newest Ad

Paul Rudd’s reprisal of his role from Nintendo’s 1990s ads follows not only the developer’s focus on family gaming but its continued reverence of Nintendo’s golden age. Nintendo has often pushed itself as a more “family-friendly” developer, with many of its biggest franchises like Mario, Kirby, and Pokemon marketed towards all ages. The developer has also frequently referenced its storied history on its newer consoles, both with Nintendo Switch Online offering retro games and re-releasing classic controllers for the Switch.

With less than two months until the Switch 2’s official release, many fans and retailers are already beginning to gear up for the console’s launch. Nintendo officially revealed the final pre-order price for the Switch 2 late last week, confirming it would maintain its $450 USD price point with pre-orders opening on April 24. While the Switch 2 did not see a price hike, several accessories like the Switch 2 Pro Controller and the Switch 2 Camera will see an increase from their initially teased price. Nintendo fans won’t have to wait much longer to get their hands on Nintendo’s highly-anticipated new console.
