Games To Play If You Loved Inscryption

Fans of Devolver Digital’s Inscryption should definitely check out this eclectic mix of similar games.

Currently offering a free demo, CloverPit is touted as “the demonic lovechild of Balatro and Buckshot Roulette” and focuses on players being trapped in a small cell and forced to play a twisted slot machine to pay off a debt. Players will be faced with a new debt every round and must manipulate the demented slot machine in order to survive and work towards the chance at freedom. Prizes and charms can be used to alter the machine and turn the odds in the player’s favor with combos, boosts, and power-ups. CloverPit offers multiple endings in its main story mode and non-stop challenges in Endless Mode. Similar to comments made by the Balatro developer, Panik Arcade notes that CloverPit is not a gambling game or true slot machine simulator and instead focuses wholly on roguelite gameplay.

CloverPit New Gameplay and Demo Trailer

With over 150 items and synergies at the player’s disposal, bending the rules and “breaking the game” will be necessary to escape imprisonment in CloverPit. Unlike a real slot machine, players in CloverPit can alter the values of symbols, boost coin payouts, and force the game to play in their favor. They will have to be careful, though, and ensure they still have sufficient funds in the nearby ATM, or they will find themselves falling to their ruin. Mixing the atmosphere of escape room video games with the all too real terrors of insurmountable debts, players can try their hand at the wicked slot machine of CloverPit with the demo available now on Steam.

Audiences have continued to voice an appreciation for games that subvert expectations, particularly when titles have a seemingly simple premise that is altered with intuitive gameplay and meta storytelling. Interested players can check out CloverPit on Steam and can stay tuned for more updates on indie horror game releases.
