Independent game developer Elliott Dahle has revealed the upcoming horror action game Frog Legs, which combines the arcade gameplay of Frogger with the high-octane shooting mechanics of the retro Doom game series. The game sees players taking on the role of suburban house frog Carl, as he is suddenly ripped away from the peace and tranquility of his new life and is forced into an arcade world of the past. Carl and his friends must overcome 2D arcade challenges, fight amphibian monsters with “retro boomer shooter FPS action,” and solve 3D horror puzzles in an attempt to get back home. Touted as a “story-driven experience” with “plenty of humor,” Frog Legs is now available for wishlisting on Steam.

The gameplay of Frog Legs jumps between 2D and 3D, blending multiple eras of video game history with familiar mechanics across genres. As Carl moves between his world and the arcade world, players will be able to experience survival horror, FPS action, and arcade gameplay, giving players “a little bit of everything” to experience as they progress. Unlike retro games from the 80s and 90s, Frog Legs features a convenient auto save at the end of each level, allowing players to hop in and out of the game more easily.
