The Meta Quest 3S has received a temporary discount, bringing the cost down by $30. This discount applies to both the 128GB and 256GB versions of the Meta Quest 3S, but the discount won’t last for long.
The Meta Quest 3S is already the lower-cost variation of the Meta Quest 3, putting an affordable price point on virtual reality and mixed reality hardware. While the Meta Quest 3S cuts some corners to bring the cost down, it nonetheless delivers a solid standalone VR experience, providing a great entry point for newcomers to virtual reality.

Meta Quest 3 Virtual Reality Headsets Are Coming to Airlines
Meta reveals that following a successful partnership, the company will be bringing the Meta Quest 3 virtual reality headsets to airline passengers.
Now, Meta is offering $30 off the Meta Quest 3S, bringing it to $269.99 from the original $299.99 for the 128GB version, or $369.99, down from $399.99 for the 256GB version. The deal is available directly through Meta, though some retailers like Amazon and Best Buy appear to be hosting the same deal at time of publication. Both capacities of the headset come with a free copy of Batman: Arkham Shadow, plus a 3-month free subscription to the Meta Quest+ service. However, this deal will end on April 26, so interested buyers shouldn’t wait too long to pounce on it.
Currently, the Meta Quest 3 is Meta’s flagship VR and MR offering, with the 3S being a less expensive variant of it. However, much of what makes the Meta Quest 3 great is also a part of the 3S. The two headsets feature the same 6DOF, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, Meta Quest Touch controllers, and both can be used fully standalone or connected to a PC for more resource-intensive games. The biggest difference between the two is in the resolution, with the Meta Quest 3 offering a 2064 x 2208 per eye resolution, while the 3S reduces this to 1832 x 1920 per eye. The resolution of the Meta Quest 3S and predecessor Meta Quest 2 are identical, but the 3S has more memory, a stronger processor, and color passthrough cameras than the Meta Quest 2.
Meta continues to dominate the VR market at the moment, with its line of versatile and user-friendly headsets remaining popular with consumers. At the moment, no headset looks poised to take away the crown from Meta, though there are continuing rumors that Valve is gearing up to release its own standalone VR headset. Whether this turns out to be true – or whether it happens anytime soon – remains to be seen. However, the rumors indicate that Valve’s new VR headset will be a costly piece of hardware, so Meta and Valve’s headsets may not be in direct competition with each other from a price perspective.
