Marvel Rivals, the hero shooter from NetEase Games, has become the ultimate, adrenaline-fueled playground for comic-book fans, and players recently got a sneak peek at one upcoming season 2 character. Marvel Rivals season 2 launched on April 11 with the Hellfire Gala, an iconic annual event straight from Marvel Comics showcasing the festivities within the mutant nation of Krakoa.

Marvel Rivals is still within its year-one launch after releasing in December 2024, where players can choose heroes from a 38-character roster, including Spider-Man, Moon Knight, and Black Widow, to battle in 6v6 matches within maps such as Tokyo 2099 and Yggsgard. Being an in-demand live-service title, the NetEase team is constantly updating character details to keep gameplay fresh, including Marvel Rivals‘ brand-new Kirisaki Mountain-inspired skins for Loki and Hela, which are scheduled to arrive in late April.

Marvel Rivals players are asking NetEase Games to revert a recent change it made to ranked matches in the popular hero shooter.

Posted by X0X_LEAK on Twitter, the well-known leaker in the Marvel Rivals community shared a screenshot of the in-game hero selection wheel with players, and one panel revealed a new look at Ultron, similar to another famous villain that was recently spotted in Marvel Rivals concept art. Previous artwork suggested Ultron would sport red eyes similar to the comic-book design, but the character’s hero wheel tile shows Ultron with yellow eyes instead. Furthermore, the upcoming hero (who’s notorious for being a classic villain) will presumably sport a silver-armored skin, instead of Ultron’s gold appearance in Brian Michael Bendis and Bryan Hitch’s Age of Ultron comic series.

Ultron is confirmed to be introduced during the shooter’s season 2.5. update, which is scheduled to release mid-season on May 30, 2025. The addition of Ultron joins other season 2 details that players share anticipation of, including the Marvel Rivals leak that suggests Arakko will be the next season 2 map. Fans projected their excitement in response to Ultron’s new look, with many stating the metallic hero would become their new main. Additionally, players can expect Ultron to become the new Strategist, with the team-supporting ability of being able to summon drones to assist in combat.

Season 2 hasn’t even reached its midway point yet, but some Marvel Rivals fans are already speculating which characters will debut during season 3. Jean Grey and Elixir are rumored to be joining the roster, if community hype is anything to go by. However, previous rumors suggested Captain Marvel would be soaring into gameplay alongside one of the most powerful X-Men characters, instead of Elixir.
