Summary
- Malware has been found in popular Schedule 1 mods.
- The affected mods are “Increased Stack Size Limit” and “Backpack Mod Reupload.”
- Players are advised to remove associated files with anti-virus software and change passwords.
Gamers are advised to stay vigilant about their downloads, after malicious malware was discovered in two popular Schedule 1 mods. This issue has affected two of the most downloaded Schedule 1 mods, which is why it’s such a major issue.
With Schedule 1 still in Early Access, players have been enhancing the game by themselves by creating and sharing tons of mods for the game. It’s easy to install mods for Schedule 1, which is why it has been so popular for players. The gameplay loop is already extremely addictive, but these mods are able to enhance the experience further as developer TVGS continues to add more features to the base game. From here on out, though, players need to be a little more careful about the mods they install.

As reported by The Gamer, a new PSA on the Schedule 1 subreddit has alerted players to malware discovered in some popular mods for the game. Both mods were previously available on Nexus Mods, but have since been removed from the site. The first is FroggyP1’s “Increased Stack Size Limit,” which on paper seemed to be one of the best Schedule 1 mods. According to the PSA, the modder’s account was sold after the mod gained popularity, with the buyer updating it with a Trojan download. This is only believed to have happened on the April 11 update to the mod, but it’s good to check regardless.
PSA: Beware of These Schedule 1 Mods
The second mod in question is “Backpack Mod Reupload,” which also gained some popularity prior to its removal. Players who have downloaded either of these mods are recommended to remove all the files associated with the mod, and remove any malicious files using a reputable anti-virus software. Afterward, players are also advised to change their passwords to ensure their data remains safe after this issue. It’s a shame that an indie game as popular as Schedule 1 is experiencing problems like this, and hopefully it doesn’t put anyone off playing the game. This experience is a great reminder for gamers to remain alert when downloading files online.
As for Schedule 1 itself, development is ongoing on the popular title, with new updates arriving frequently from developer TVGS. The game’s solo developer recently revealed that they’d “love” to bring Schedule 1 to consoles in the future, although the focus at the moment is on improving the experience on PC before any other plans are made. There’s a lot to love about Schedule 1 at the moment, and it only seems as though the game is going to get better.
