  • The game’s second season recently started, with X-Men antagonist Emma Frost being added to the roster.

The appearance of Red Hulk in newly released Marvel Rivals concept art has fans speculating about the villain’s possible addition to the roster. Marvel Rivals has just launched its second season, headlined by X-Men antagonist Emma Frost. The season added a new Domination map in Krakoa, and Avengers nemesis Ultron is confirmed to be coming to the game in the second half.

The antagonistic counterpart to Marvel’s most incredible hero, Red Hulk is one of the more popular villains within the Marvel universe, as he shares much of the Hulk’s physical strength. One of the biggest differences between both Hulks is that, unlike Bruce Banner, Red Hulk isn’t able to turn back into Thaddeus Ross after his initial Hulk-out. Most recently, Red Hulk played a major part in Marvel Studios’ latest MCU film, Captain America: Brave New World, with his human form, President Thaddeus Ross, portrayed by Hollywood legend Harrison Ford.

Marvel Rivals developers address another request made by the community, and make a change to one of Luna Snow’s emotes available in the game.

Early-stage concept art of Marvel Rivals has appeared online, highlighting what the game’s UI looked like in the earlier stages of the third-person hero shooter’s development. One of the concept photos features a radial character menu in which Red Hulk can be seen next to several heroes that are actually in the game, such as Doctor Strange, Bruce Banner, The Punisher, and Rocket Raccoon. This has led some Marvel Rivals fans to speculate about whether Red Hulk will be added to the game’s roster at some point down the road.

Red Hulk Spotted in Marvel Rivals Concept Art

It’s very common for assets, features, and characters to be cut during a game’s development, especially early on. Knowing this, Red Hulk’s appearance in these pieces of concept art is far from a guarantee that NetEase is planning to add him to Marvel Rivals‘ roster in the future. With that said, if he really is added at some point, it’ll be interesting to see how his kit will feel different from the Hulk’s as another melee brawler tank. Other melee Vanguards, like Thor and The Thing, have their own unique powers and abilities, but another Hulk will undoubtedly be difficult to set apart from Bruce Banner.

With Season 2 of Marvel Rivals having just recently begun, it’ll be several weeks until Ultron follows in Emma Frost’s footsteps and joins the roster. Ultron is already confirmed to be a Strategist, what Marvel Rivals calls its support role, and there will undoubtedly be more information released about the villain as his arrival nears.
