Diablo 4 Announces Season 8 Reveal Livestream and Launch Date

Blizzard has announced a Diablo 4 Developer Update Livestream for April 24 to reveal details about the upcoming Season 8, titled Belial’s Return. Diablo 4 Season 8 will launch on April 29, and this livestream will serve as the final preview players get before Belial’s Return releases.

Diablo 4 has proven to be a success among ARPG fans, setting a record for active players on Steam, while reviews on the platform currently sit at “Mostly Positive.” The latest entry in the widely popular Diablo franchise introduced a fully open-world experience where players can explore different regions and complete quests, all while battling all kinds of demonic creatures. Despite its popularity and the warm reception Vessel of Hatred received, Diablo 4 has recently faced some criticism following the game’s roadmap reveal, as many players didn’t feel too enthusiastic about what’s next for the game. Now, the developer is gearing up to reveal the game’s upcoming content.

Blizzard’s director of social and content marketing addresses the backlash from players following the recent Diablo 4 roadmap reveal.

Blizzard has announced that the next Developer Update Livestream will begin on April 24 at 11 a.m. PDT, where details about Diablo 4 Season 8 will be unveiled. The livestream will feature members of the development team, who will discuss the new season, which includes a new questline, new seasonal powers, and more. At the end of the stream, players will have the chance to clarify doubts about Season 8 during a Q&A segment, where team members will answer questions live. Players can tune into the livestream through Diablo’s official Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, and TikTok channels.

Blizzard’s approach to this Developer Update Livestream will be slightly different from the previous one. Once it concludes, players are invited to join the first “Sanctuary Sitdown” to continue discussing the game, with Community Host Lurkin and Class Designer Charles Dunn answering questions about Diablo 4 Season 8 and more in the Sanctuary Discord.

Interestingly, as revealed by its very name, Diablo 4 Season 8 will feature one of Diablo 3’s bosses, Belial, as part of the major changes Blizzard is introducing to the game’s endgame. Season 8, however, comes amid controversy surrounding Diablo 4’s roadmap for 2025, with players complaining about a lack of original content and accusing the studio of only “copying and pasting” from previous seasons.

Trying to offer some hope to fans, Blizzard’s director of social and content marketing said that’s not the full roadmap, and that the studio still has “some good surprises that I think people will be pleasantly happy about.” In the meantime, players can tune into the upcoming livestream to find out what’s next for Diablo 4.
