After 26 years, SNK will release a new Fatal Fury game, with City of the Wolves featuring a base cast of 17 characters familiar to players, such as Terry Bogard, Billy Kane, Mai Shiranui, and the protagonist Rock Howard. Surprising fans, the fighting game will have two unexpected characters as part of the launch cast, with DJ Salvatore Ganacci and soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo in the new Fatal Fury game. To round off the list, the developers have revealed the last name to join the game before launch.

SNK has confirmed Hokutomaru as the 17th and final character in the Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves base roster. Along with the announcement, a new gameplay trailer was shared showing that Hokutomaru has left behind the wooden sword, and now fights using mainly his hands and feet. The showcase was attended by famous pro players such as Saul “MenaRD” Leonardo, Bryant ‘Smug’ Huggins, and King of Fighters legend Lin “E.T.” Chia-hung, who demonstrated the game’s characters. E.T., in particular, gave fans a look at Hokutomaru’s kit, which combines the fighting styles of two well-known fighters.

First seen in Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Hokutomaru is the young disciple of Andy Bogard and Mai Shiranui. His fighting style is considered a fusion of the two, using Mai’s weapon throwing and Andy’s Kuhadan. Although he no longer carries the wooden sword, Hokutomaru kept the shuriken as part of his moveset, along with new attacks. According to the official description, after the Mark of the Wolves tournament in which he took part, Hokutomaru decided to live in South Town with Terry’s help. With the next competition approaching, the young man plans to join to test how much he has grown after leaving the mountains.
With the confirmation of Hokutomaru as the final character in the base cast, fans are preparing for the anticipated release of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves on April 24 for PC and consoles. In addition to the 17 fighters, SNK has already confirmed the Fatal Fury: City of Wolves Season 1 pass, with Andy Bogard, Joe Higashi, Chun-Li, Ken, and Mr. Big to join the game at a later date.
