Pokemon TCG Pocket Kicks off New Event Featuring Lucario

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket has launched its latest Wonder Pick event, and this month’s version stars one of the franchise’s most popular Fighting-type Pokemon, Lucario. Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket players have the chance to collect a large number of Lucario-themed cosmetic items, as well as a couple of cards with exclusive artwork.

Lucario’s presence in Pokemon TCG Pocket is a major factor for players building or battling against Fighting-Type decks. Two versions of the card have been released so far, and while the EX version released at the end of March is the most recent, a lot of players still seem to be using the original version, which has a Fighting Coach passive ability that causes all attacks from any Fighting-type Pokemon to deal an extra 20 damage per hit.

The fifth expansion of Pokemon TCG Pocket, Shining Revelry, increases the game’s revenue, and some believe this is due to a particular premium card.

Starting on April 16 and running through April 26, players will be able to find Pokemon TCG Pocket Promo Cards in special Chansey and Bonus Pick pulls from the Wonder Pick menu, which will show up at regular intervals. These Promo Cards feature exclusive art for two different Pokemon, Pachirisu and Lucario’s pre-evolved form, Riolu. Players pulling from these special Wonder Pick selections have a chance of getting either of these cards or a selection of usable Pokemon TCG Pocket items, like Hourglasses and Event Shop Tickets.

Lucario Wonder Pick Event Period in Pokemon TCG Pocket

In addition to pulling these two special cards, the latest Wonder Pick Event introduces seven new themed cosmetic items that can be purchased using Event Shop Tickets and will allow players further customization of their decks and virtual play spaces. Items themed directly around Lucario include card sleeves and a coin, while imagery of both Lucario and Riolu adorn a new playmat, backdrop, and cover image. Players will also be able to purchase an icon featuring Sinnoh region Pokemon Champion Cynthia, who is notable for utilizing a Lucario in both the Pokemon games and anime, and a red curtain Stage Frame backdrop for showing off their best cards.

Players will be able to acquire additional Event Shop Tickets by completing special limited-time missions. These missions include completing a set number of Wonder Picks, pulling at least one of each of the new promo cards, and collecting set numbers of both Fighting and Lightning-type Pokemon. Players will not be able to make use of Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s Sneak Peek feature to seek out these cards in Wonder Pick, as that feature was removed on April 10, but the event will last until April 26, 2025, giving dedicated fans plenty of time to collect tickets and claim their rewards.
