Twitch dropped the ban on popular female streamer ExtraEmily just one day after suspending her. With over 468,000 Twitch followers, ExtraEmily is known for Just Chatting and IRL streams, where her lively personality keeps viewers engaged. She also occasionally plays games like Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario 64, and others.

While driving to a Barbie-themed café in Austin, ExtraEmily was recently caught on stream running a red light after verbally reacting to the changing signal with a series of “oohs” and “uhhs.” Three seconds after the light turned red, she continued through the intersection without noticeably slowing down. A clip of the moment spread quickly online, drawing sharp criticism from viewers who called her actions reckless and dangerous. Later, Twitch streamer ExtraEmily downplayed it, saying it often happens, and noted Austin’s traffic lights last too long.

Twitch Gives Update About Video on Demand Content

Twitch offers content creators an update about an upcoming limit to be imposed on certain video-on-demand content this year.

Following the incident, the platform handed down a ban to ExtraEmily, in line with how Twitch has previously handled similar violations. In a message to her fans on Discord, she confirmed the distracted driving ban and accepted responsibility. She maintained a positive outlook, pledging to create more engaging content and learn from the mistake. She anticipated a brief suspension, expecting to return within a day or two. As predicted by her, Twitch ended the ban after just 24 hours.

This marks her second ban overall, with the first one dating back to October 2023. While the reason for that earlier suspension was never confirmed, many viewers speculated it was also linked to ExtraEmily’s phone use while driving during a live stream. That ban was brief too, lasting from October 14 to October 16, 2023. According to Twitch’s Terms of Service, the platform prohibits showing or promoting any kind of dangerous or distracted driving, including activities like using a phone behind the wheel or driving under the influence.

Using a phone while driving poses major risks, and many U.S. states ban it outright. Still, some streamers keep doing it during live broadcasts. Polish Twitch streamer Sideneuke faced heavy criticism last year when a video surfaced showing her striking a dog with her car while streaming. Clips hinted she was distracted, likely checking chat messages at the time. Another case hit in October 2024, when 20-year-old Jack Doherty was permanently banned from Kick after crashing his McLaren during a live stream. Streamers with large audiences need to understand that their actions carry weight and influence, and with that comes the responsibility to act more cautiously.
